The purpose of this paper is to question to compare his works before Korean Independence day, his works after, and to discover the internal logic of all of his works in these two periods. After Korean independence day the change in his realism was not illustrated but made by inner motive. He did not only reveal the korean unstable consciousness of koreans during the Japanese occupation when disturbance, frustration, and hopelessness were rampant, but he also showed intellectuals' disruption and ambiguity, criticism and communication methods at the time. The most remarkable point of his work is that he presented a communication method thatall wed hope get through the desperation which other writers couldn't. In this way he changed modernism to realism.
In 「Pye-eo-in(폐어인)」 as the character Hyun-il(현일) passionately emphasized, "Although an Individual for himself is unfortunate it doesn't mean life looks dark or cursed due to that." He, the writer, tried to find the hope to break the colony in 1930s when people could no longer see a positive outcome. This made his novels reality, which isn't limited to the category of modernism before Korean Independence day. With this point, it is natural that he released his realism novels after Korean Independence day.
