At the time when Deleuze published "Anti-Oedipus"(1972), France was so unsteady for the excitement of 6.8 revolution. The revolution was a revolution of intelligent and student, against the oppression of bureaucrats, therefore it"s aim was different from the revolution of working class at the beginning of 20th century. A philosopher of that time must interpret the will of the revolutionary intelligent and student. Deleuze"s target of this book also was this task asked for a philosopher.
The concept of the desire presented by Deleuze at this book is inherited from but opposed to the concept of the desire of Freud and Lacan as a lack. Deleuze"s concept was influenced from Nietzsche"s "will of power" and Spinoza"s "power(puissance)". It give attentions to the self reproductivity. He thinks that human desire is diverse and fragmentary, lying at the bottom of the mind. Therefore these desires integrate into integral large desire at the surface of mind. So he defines his concept of desire as production.
Deleuze think this desire has been oppressed by The psychological structure of Oedipus. The what is the origin of this Oedipus structure? It originated from social oppression. Especially in capital societies, capital need reproduction of labour before reproduction of capital . This reproduction must eliminate the vivid power of production of desire and make this power into the abstract labour power. This process can be efficiently preformed by the intrusion of Oedipus structure.
But Lacan thinks the desire is fragmentary and self reproductive as like as Deleuze. But Lacan does not think there are natural desire opposed to the outer social oppression. Lacan interprets the oppressing Superego in the mind has been formed by the symbolical order(the name of father) foreclosed and returned in fantasy. The energy has been supplied from the drive of Id. That is Lacan thinks the oppression does not comes from outer social oppression as like as Deleuze but from inner desire for destruction which is parallel to desire of Id.
