The purpose of this study was to investigate mothers" children-rearing attitudes and children"s pro-social behaviors with variables of children"s gender and age. For this study, participants were 215 three or four year old children and their mothers of a kindergarten and a daycare center in Daegu. The mothers" attitudes and the children"s pro- social behaviors were investigated by using the separate questionaires. The data were statistically analyzed. First, the mothers gave the boys higher score for autonomous attitude compared to the girls. Second, the girls showed higher score for interpersonal relation-building ability as a pro-social behavior than the boys and the four year old children got higher score for the same ability than the three year old children. Third, the children"s adaptable ability to kindergarten as a pro-social behavior increased with an increase in the mothers" autonomous attitude. Therefore, these results indicate that mothers" children-rearing attitude and children"s gender and age are important for the development of children"s interpersonal relation-building ability and adaptable ability to kindergarten.
