The purpose of the study is to check up on the realities and the problems of physical facilities and teaching aids in elementary schools so as to seek ways to secure and utilize them more effectively. A quality study was carried out with physical education managers and teachers in 4 schools in the north part of Chung-buk province. Information were collected by documents, deep interview, and descriptive comment, and processed through inductive category analysis. In order to increase the veracity in collecting and analyzing information, inter-member review, inter-colleague consultation, and diversified analysis were performed. As the results of this fact-finding study on physical facilities and teaching aids in elementary schools, the conclusions are as following. First, yearly expansion plan of physical facilities and teaching aids in elementary school were not made well, and the budget was very small. Securing physical education budget, physical facilities and teaching aids was much affected by the principal`s role and the province-designated event. Second, physical facilities was maintained by painting and safety check, and physical teaching aids by physical education storage room. Third, it turned out that installation and utilization of physical facilities and teaching aids is closely related to physical education instruction. The physical education teacher of school comparatively well equipped with physical facilities and teaching aids have performed quality physical education instruction by making well-structured plan using facilities and teaching aids. But physical education teacher of school which are short of physical facilities and teaching aids have led physical education instruction catch-as-catch-can without making a teaching plan for reason of miscellaneous works and short time, sometimes replacing with other subject.
