The number of tourists and revenue generated by tourism around the world are growing each year. The number of tourists and income from tourism are also increasing in Korea, but profit from tourism is still at a poor level. In particular, Korea"s tourism competitiveness ranking in the world was 25th in 2013 and placed 38th in terms of regulation structure (WEF, 2013). The purpose of this study is to propose a plan for creative tourism to promote national tourism competitiveness in this era of creative economy. The scope of creative tourism refers to creative subject of tourism, creative object of tourism and creative media of tourism. Such areas are included in the scope of tourism and are also included in the scope of creative economy that is based on creative industries that create economic value by considering creativity of people as an input element. Creative tourism can be achieved through creative subject of tourism, creative object of tourism and creative media of tourism. This study will be able to not only provide a way out from Korea"s current poor tourism competitiveness crisis, but also become a blueprint that will innovatively ensure tourism competitiveness of Korea. However, as this study is a conceptual study based on observations of previous studies, it requires further supplementation in order to generalize and objectify the proposed plan on creative tourism.
