The color environment in the classroom has a significant effect on the attitudes and concentration of students on learning. The execution of the revised curriculum in 2009 was a significant turning point in the color environment in the classroom. Recently, the color of classroom has been decided based on the characteristics of subject and students’ emotion. Many researchers have introduced various methods, such as the color preference and Electroencephalograph (EEG) analysis, to design the color in the school and residental facilities. However, limited information and data base on the color environment in the educational facilities lead to making proposed color design methodology inefficient. The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze the color environment of general and special classrooms for middle and high schools constructed in Daejeon and Sejong City since 2010. For this study, five schools in Daejeon and four schools in Sejong City were selected. General classroom and special classroom colors of nine schools were separated and analyzed with the naked eye based on Munsell’s color system. Special classrooms investigated in the study include rooms for music, art, science, technology & household, mathematics and English. Analysis results indicated that for secondary schools in Daejeon area, the interior colors in the classrooms were characterized by an achromatic color in the N series, 7.5GY and 5Y as main colors and 5R and YR series as sub-main colors. In secondary school in Sejong City, 5Y color was almost used for main and sub-main colors in the classroom.
