In this study, 358 subjects(aged 65 to 81: 159 men and 199 women) were sampled randomly and tested. Using Futrex-5000i (Body fat and fitness computer. Futrex, Inc. P.O. Box 2398 Gaithersburg, Maryland 20886), (1)based on input of age, gender, body weight, body frame(small, medium, and large), and height, fat(%), lean weight, and water were measured and (2)based on input of age, gender, body weight, body frame, and exercise level (heavy, moderate, light, and other), apporpriate weight, calorie intake/day, and calorie consumption in various exercise type. The results were summarized as following: 1. Proportion of the body frame of old aged men/women were 47.17%(75)/54.27%(108) of medium, 24.04%(43)/25.13%(50) of large, and 27.79%(41)/20.60%(41) of small, respectively. Old women were more in medium body frame which meant having well developed bone and muscle, and well balanced body than old men. That reason may be caused by the heredity, environment, diet, exercise, age, personal difference. 2. The fat(%) of old men/women were 22.46±6.45/29.80±6.50 and the range of appropriate fat(%) of old men/women were 6~20.30/9~27.60. As age increased, fat(%) increased, and fat(%) in old women was greater than that in old men. 3. Amount of water of old men/women were 58.13±4.08/53.60±5.24 and decreased with age increased when the appropriate weight and the appropriate fat(%) were maintained. 4. The calorie intake of old men/women were 1925.57±146.53/1633.78±157.57 respectively. As age increased, the calorie intake decreased caused by reduced activity. Also, difference was found by sex, age, body weight, activity level, excercise level, and personal difference. 5. Correlations between body composition and exercise type of old men/women were as following; correlation between weight and tennis(r=0.95/r=0.94), fat(%) and water (r=-0.94/r=-0.91), tennis and wood-cutting (r=0.87/r=0.86), and weight and wood-cutting(r=0.86/r=0.79). Those were significantly high, and high fat(%) which meant less water showed negative correlation(p<0.001).
