When people scoop and turn soil upside down, we had been trying to invent convenient instrument, to reduce burden on their body physically, producing prototype and tried to evaluate effect when we use it. When people use shovel in work, most of works require repeated action and load pressure on body, it could possibly cause occupational disorder in musculoskeletal part. To prevent such disorder, it is urgent to invent and distribute agricultural instruments and convenience equipment. Twenty men in total have participated in experimentation and based on blue-print, we produced prototype and performed comparative evaluation on work load of generally used shovel and newly invented shovel using %MVC, AULA position assessment and uncomfortable degree. When using generally used shovel, what caused biggest discomfort is “burden caused when scooping soil” participators in survey responded following in order: waist, arm, shoulder, hand and neck. In outcome by AULA evaluation, it rated 1.75 and risk level rated 2, which apparently seemed a bit dangerous. However, we analyzed it that it needs consistent and repeated work for improvement. In outcome of EMG evaluation, scooping and turning soil upside down causes muscle to be spent and comparatively muscle on left seemed to be activated more than on right. When we performed both objective and subjective assessment for evaluating two kinds(generally used and newly invented) of shovel, it has come out that using newly invented shovel caused less burden on body and makes other part more comfortable except for hand. Even though presently invented shovel is just a prototype, we expect that we will be able to use more efficient shovel if its material changes and structure is much more improved.
