This main purpose is to study about Overseas Koreans’ politics recognition and voting behavior who live in America, Japan and China in 18th presidential elections.
First, In the political consciousness of the Overseas Koreans, Presidential interest, Presidential recognition, candidates and political parties recognition of overseas Koreans was higher and Overseas Koreans saw that overseas election is a positive effect to political developments in Korea and local settlement. They recognize that the conservative candidate Park Geun-hye. However, Moon Jae in was recognized as the weak progress. and Lee Myung-bak government’s affairs and perform was given a score of less than normal. most of all, Such a high interest from overseas Koreans will be motivated by being aware of the importance of political participation of the domestic voters as well as to increase national competitiveness and to be helpful in the regional development.
Second, There were a significant differences in candidate selection according to age, education, the final settlement, ideology. mainly young people and progressive’s support were choose to the Moon Jae-in candidates and the elderly and the conservative’s support were candidate of Park Geun-hye upheld.
Overseas Koreans residing in the American, Japan and China as domestic voters were also selecting candidates based on regionalism. Thus, the young people of overseas koreans were interested in domestic politics high. so, each political party must suggest various policies to get high vote’s rate depending on age, education and ideology of overseas koreans.
