This study was committed to the participants of 178 elders who has engaged in the physical activities of social services among other local social service investment business. It had been executed from March 2014 to January 2015 and got the following results from comparing the changes of body composition, basic physical fitness, blood pressure and blood sugar of 122 elders who had used the service once a week to those of 56 elders who had used 3 times a week.
First, muscular amount of body composition had a significant increase(p<.01) in 3 times a week user group, and body fat rate had a substantial decrease(p<.01) in once a week user group. Basic metabolic rate had a significant increase(p<.001) in 3 times a week user group.
Second, muscular strength of basic physical fitness had a significant increase(p<.01) in 3 times a week user group, and flexibility showed a significant increase(p<.001) in both groups. However, balance had no change.
Third, the change of systolic blood pressure had a significant increase(p<.01), but there was no change of relaxed blood pressure. The change of the blood sugar after meals in both groups had a significant decrease(p<.05).
In conclusion, the engagement of the elderly in 3 times/week service has the bigger exercise effect than in once/week service, which means that it should be considered when composing and providing physical activity programs for the elderly in the future.
