The purpose of this study is to analyze the types and characteristics of wedding dress and veil in Jeju area from 1960’s to 1980’s. The number of the wedding pictures used for this analysis is 356 pictures. The results of the study is as follows. The rate of necklines was 55.4% of high neckline, 31.7% of round neckline, 8.8% of V neckline, 1.6% of square neckline, 0.8% of off-shoulder neckline, 0.8% of heart neckline, 0% of top neckline and 0.8% of etc. Total sleeves consist of 45.1% of flounce sleeve, 27.4% of tight sleeve, 18.1% of leg of mutton sleeve, 4.4% of puff sleeve, 3.5% of bishop sleeve and 1.3% of cape sleeve. The proportion of the length of the sleeve was 87% for long sleeves, 8.5% for 70% sleeves, 2.8% for 30% sleeves, 1.6% for half sleeves and none for sleeveless. The composition ratio of silhouette was 45.6% for A silhouette, 24.3% for X silhouette, 20.4% for H silhouette, 9.7% for bell silhouette and none for mermaid silhouette. As a result of analysis of the veil wearing, the ratio of wearing the veil to the wedding dress was 100% and the ratio of wearing the veil to the Hanbok was 93.8%. In case of wearing wedding dress, the ratio by veil position was 83.1% for crown type, 16.7% for back head type and none for forehead type. But in case of wearing hanbok, the ratio by veil position was 62.2% for crown type, 35.6% for back head type and 2.2% for forehead type. As for the ratio by the length of the veil, in case of wearing hanbok, the long veil was 100%. On the other hand, when a wedding dress was worn, the long veil was 49.6%, short veil was 39.7% and medium veil was 10.6%. This results of this study are different from those of previous studies. This result shows that there is a difference in wedding dress trend in Jeju and elsewhere.
