In spite of the rapid growth and the economic contribution of the MICE industry, there still exists a lack of effective policies for its advancement. This research focused on measuring the industrial structural changes in the MICE industry and its specialization in order to find its contribution to the economic growth in Busan, Daegu and Jeju. This research was done in five steps. First, the 54 MICE related sectors were derived from Korean Standard Industrial Classifications. Second, Busan, Daegu and Jeju were selected as cities for the case studies after examining various CVBs and convention centers in Korea. Third, the employment data for persons in the MICE industries were collected from the KOSIS, Statistics Korea. Fourth, the employment data were analyzed to calculate the economic index which are RSI, GC and RGRD. Fifth, the results in each of the 3 indexes were comparatively analyzed focusing on before and after the construction of the convention centers and the establishment of CVBs. The result of this research indicates that the construction of convention centers and establishment of convention visitors bureaus in each region contributed to an increase in convention industrial specialization and economic growth rate.
