This study aims to draw lessons from the policy changes concerning children and young people in the U.K. The British government is currently trying to change its previous policy regime which was characterized by fragmentation and selectivism. The emerging U.K. policy regime for young people is directed toward an integrated, universalistic, and local government-centered system. The British experience suggests several points relevant to the Korean policy regime. First, an integrated governance system can be developed at both central and local levels. Second, a universalistic approach can be combined with a selectivistic one. Third, an integrated training regime can be arranged for raising professionals in this policy field. Fourth, it is possible to develop channels for the participation of children and young people in the policy processes.
