This paper focuses on different medium characteristics between graphic noveland movie, because the Snowpiercer created by Bong Joon-ho is an adaptationof a french graphic novel. We talk about the impression of reality andmovement as an important feature. In the diegetic world of the movie, the train, survivors within, circulates 438,000 km of long and closed rail and its journeywould be endless. This train should keep moving in order to protect thesurvivors not to freeze to death. This narrative hypothesis is visualized andrepresented on the screen by the constant movement of this train. For examples,a special device called gimbal is used to take all shots of the movie whichalso contains many hand-held and tracking shots. The rolling wheels of the trainare shown by close-up shots. Inside the train, the main character struggles toadvance towards head car, where ‘The Sacred Engine’ is to be. His actions areeffectively represented in this movie using the relationship between the visiblefield and invisible field. All characters always move from left to right. Invisiblearea of left outside of the frame means the tail car and that of right means thehead car. Movements from left to right connote ‘go forward’. And theSnowpiercer frequently uses the depth of field of the screen. Characters movefrom deep inside of the screen toward the surface of it, in other words, towardthe spectator. By these movements, we can find a straight line. There is also amovement performed on the train running on curved rail. Finally, we find amovement from inward to outward of the train.
