This paper is mainly focused on ascertaining the feature of the iconography, formation, and style with seven paintings of the Young-san religious service in the first half year of 17th century, which have definite dates of production and names of artist. All of these paintings seem to be correlated and the earliest hanging Buddhist painting of Juk-lim temple made in 1622 is also included as a subject of study. As the meaning of the Young-san religious service is Sakyamuni's Buddhist lecture meeting, the main iconography of the hanging Buddhist painting for the Young-san religious service, based on the idea of 『the Sutra of the Lotus』, is the scene of Sakyamuni's lecturing to many groups of disciples at Mt. Young-chi. With different forms of composition, the paintings are firstly classified as two types; one is drawn only a Buddha and the other combining with other figures. And the latter composition is again divided into three forms in detailed manner. Moreover I try to analyze the painting school according to not only the feature of style by each painting but also the trend of work by each artist. In making an analysis of the painting school, the study is followed by the chronological order. Taking the interchange between the work of chief artist and general artists into consideration, however, I concentrate on understanding the flow of paining school divided by different types.
