The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of food insecurity on the relationship between the income classes and health of the elderly. To test the study hypothesis, multiple regression analyses and sobel-tests were used for 1,548 elderly persons aged 65 years or older. According to the results of analyses, first, a partial mediating effect of health was found in the relationship between the income classes experienced by the elderly and the health of the elderly. Based on the foregoing, theoretical grounds for social welfare intervention to manage the health of the elderly were presented.
