The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of the application of revised nutritional standards for school lunches from a consumer perspective. In November 2018, the pilot application of standards A and B developed in the previous study was performed at 104 elementary, middle and high schools for 2 weeks each. Satisfaction surveys on school lunches were administered to students and teachers after the application of current standards and after the application of standards A and B, respectively. Repeated measure ANOVA was used to examine the significant differences in scores of satisfaction by calculating the average value of each school according to application of the three standards. The students" levels of satisfaction responded by students and teachers were analyzed using data from 98 schools (43,482 questionnaires) and 94 schools (1,926 questionnaires), respectively. The students’ level of overall satisfaction and satisfactions with the quantity and menu of meals in applying standards A (3.76, 3.75, and 3.76, respectively) were significantly lower than the current standards (3.90, 3.85, and 3.88, respectively), and there were no significant differences between the current standards and standards B (3.87, 3.84, and 3.86, respectively). Moreover, the students’ level of satisfaction with quantity of meals responded by teachers in standards A (4.20) was significantly lower than for standards B (4.35). In conclusion, students’ level of satisfaction in standards A and B were high in absolute terms, whereas the level in the standards B was higher than in standards A in relative terms. Therefore, in both standards A and B, the feasibility of application was confirmed, whereas the feasibility of application in standards B was higher than in standards A.
