The purpose of this study is to analyze whether preferences of coffee consumers differ according to monthly average income and occupation in Seoul area. By analyzing preferences of coffee consumers according to monthly average income and occupation, it is necessary to find ways to differentiate sales and marketing strategies. SPSS 23.0 statistical program was used for statistical analyses of collected data, frequency analysis for demographic analysis, and one-way ANOVA for verification of differences between coffee preferences according to monthly average income and occupation. Based on the results, conclusions and implications were as follows: First, coffee marketers and specialists need to promote and advertize coffee according to each price after differentiating target market by monthly average income due to the result that there is a difference between preferences of Dutch and hand drip coffee according to monthly average income. Second, there is significant differences between preferences of Dutch and hand drip coffee by occupation. Therefore, experts in the coffee industry need to differentiate their promotions and marketing strategies according to coffee consumers’ occupation. As an implication, if a study such as an analysis in sensory preferences of coffee (taste, smell, color, and the like) is performed, it will be helpful to coffee professionals and marketing practitioners.
