Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate stakeholders" IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) emotional satisfaction of each general hospital space for patient"s positive experience.

Background: In Korea, many patients were visited to general hospital due to the tendency to prefer large hospitals (ex: general and university affiliated) even though smaller disease. Patients visiting hospital and their families were exposed to VOCs (chemicals smell), dry air, viruses and bacteria etc. Therefore, air quality improvement in the hospital is very important. However, emotional factors related to air quality in the hospital are not considered in the related each space air quality related product service design.

Method: Through the hospital"s user journey analysis of the visitors (patients), the hospital space was defined as 6 spaces (entrance/reception desk, inpatient room, waiting room, treatment room, inspection/operation room, transportation), the 5 emotional keywords that can represent the functions (temperature and humidity monitoring, fine dust removal, odor, removal of harmful substances, viruses, bacteria, etc.) of existing air quality management products and services were derived. The emotional evaluation was implemented 5 questions (coldness-warmth, stuffy-freshness, dryness-humidity, odor-scent, harmless-harmful) for 6 space through the semantic differential method. The subjects were participated 100 people (medical staff (49) and patients (51)). The survey was implemented by on · offline.

Results: The most required space in hospital for IAQ management was "inpatient room" in the result of emotional evaluation. The results for the detailed questions were mostly negative. Therefore, we derived the each space service design elements and IAQ requirements (ex. Automatic IAQ management before operation, IAQ monitoring etc.).

Conclusion & Application: We expect that this study will be able to contribute to improve the air quality emotional experience of hospital visitors.
