Objective: The continuous development of technology makes human information dissemination gradually enter the digital age. The new media following it is the new media interactive art. The new media interactive art is a postmodern product of the environment in socialized mass production, with a more intense characteristic of ‘mechanization’, which required the addition of user-friendly content in the process of interaction to transform its characteristic of mechanization into an artwork with humanity. Because only the artworks close to people can attract people’s attention and goodwill, then meet people"s expectations, which is an important guarantee to promote the constant development of the new media interactive art. Background: With the increasing of appreciation demand, people has higher emotional demand for the presentation of new media installation art. In order to establish emotional transformation, empathy design method is needed to improve the design development of new media interactive art. Method: The method of interviewing is used in this research, in order to get in-depth research of the feeling of people about new media interactive art. Result: The reflection of new media interactive art is weak, empathic design thinking is considered to use in the design period. Conclusion: Art will carry more content of human being, and the emotion exchange of people will become more and more important. Empathic design method can help designers understand the target users more deeply and mine their emotional needs. This method will be more widely used. Application: This research will provide inspiration for the application of new media interactive art in different practical fields.
