In Korea, kimchi cabbage (2n = 20) is the most produced vegetable crop in 2019 and the third largest crop for seed export after hot pepper and radish in 2018. Many private companies and government institutions have developed new cultivars and various molecular markers have also been developed to identify genetic differences among them. However, most of recently developed molecular marker systems requires the large number of markers and expensive equipment for high-throughput genotyping. It is also necessary to develop a molecular marker system for low-throughput requiring small number of markers and simple equipment, for small companies and laboratories.
