The object of this study is to find a promotion strategy of port service industries in Busan port. Busan port is ranked 6th port among the world container handling port and also is ranked 2nd port handling transhipment cargo in the world. But in order to achieve sustainable growth, Busan port has to discover new sources creating higher value-added. From this point of view, Foster of port services industries such as ship stores industry, ship repair industry and ship rufueling industry in Busan port will be the most suitable strategy. Every vessels are using these services. The key point is that which port services is better. So I suggest three ways. First, it’s very important to make the best use of the Busan port’s location advantages like Singapore and Retterdam port. Second, drastic switch in point of view is necessary. Port authority has to consider deeply about what shipping companies as customer using port services wants truly. Third, it is necessary to take integrated, synchronization approach when government establish policies about promoting port service industries. And the policies should be carried out well-timed and actively. If we miss a chance, China or Japan ports will replace Busan port’s role.
