Lithium metal batteries (LMBs) have grained increased attention as a next-generation secondary batteries because it can solve the theoretical limits of energy density in graphite anode based lithium ion batteries. However, lithium metal anode suffer from the dendritic growth during repetitive charge/discharge process, which can cause serious safety problems, such as explosion. In this study, we investigate the Li plating/stripping behavior in carbonated-based electrolyte with different additives to fabricate a safe and dendrite-free LMBs.
