This study was investigate the effect of safety knowledge, safety climate on safety performance of hospital nurses. The data was collected by structured questionnaires from 126 hospital nurses and were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression. The level of incident safety knowledge and safety climate was 4.05 and 3.67. The level of safety performance was 3.83. Safety knowledge and safety climate have a significant positive association with safety performance(r=0.552, p<0.001, r=0.684, p<0.001). Safety knowledge was positively associated with safety climate(r=0.566, p<0.001). Factors influencing safety performance were safety climate, safety knowledge and Gender which explained 51.9% of the variance(F=20.280, p<0.001). In this study, it was confirmed that hospital nurses' safety climate, safety knowledge and gender are factors affecting safety performance. Safety climate was the most effective factor, followed by safety knowledge and gender.
Therefore, in order to improve safety performance of hospital nurses, it is necessary to prepare effective nursing interventions such as improving safety climate, safety knowledge, and developing and applying various safety education programs.
