The purpose of this study is to find out the station hotels that had opened in Japanese colonial era, and the historical development process of station hotels in history of Korea hotel. At first, the railway was built mainly as a military purpose by Japan. So the railway was a means of colonization for Japan. but the railway also promoted modernization of korea. As a new transportation medium, it influenced economic, cultural and tourism development. The station hotels such as Busan station hotel, Pyeongyang Station Hotel, Shinuiju station hotel, Chosun hotel, Jangan and Geumgansan station hotel were situated in the railway station and city. The main guests were local, japan and foreign tourists. Also, Station hotels played a important role of social culture in the city and introduced a modern hotel management system like american and european plan, especially in case of Chosun Hotel. Geumgansan and Jangan-sa station hotel were the first resort hotels in history of Korea hotel. After Korea was liberated from Japanese colonial rule in 1945, station hotels continuously played a very important role of current hotel development.
Therefore, station hotels were a bridge in between modern hotel and today hotel in the history of hotel.
