To provide guidance for using Papago and ChatGPT effectively in writing classes, their characteristics should be known in advance. Therefore, the following trend was found through Papago and ChatGPT translation results using 10 vocabulary-related papers and summary sentences on “COVID-19.”
(1) Papago translates more directly than ChatGPT.
(2) ChatGPT uses foreign words more often than Papago.
(3) Technical terms are sometimes mistranslated, and new words and buzzwords are not translated well.
In addition, the effective use of Papago or ChatGPT in writing classes requires (1) understanding the characteristics of these tools, (2) considering direct translations and contexts, (3) using foreign words carefully, (4) handling jargon and new words, and (5) maintaining style and flow.
In the future, we will examine translations by Google translator and GitHub Copilot GitHub using the same summary.
