In the realm of future education, fostering student competency through self-reflection is crucial. However, the associated workload for teachers in assessing and delivering personalized education is a pressing concern. The adoption of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically ChatGPT, offers a promising solution, aiming to alleviate the burden on teachers while enhancing students’ competencies. This study delves into the viability of ChatGPT as an intelligent assistant for teachers in the realm of competency analysis. Employing the ChatGPT API, a competency analysis reporting system was developed, emphasizing prompt engineering for enhanced output quality. The system was evaluated using the ‘Sensibleness and Specificity Average’ metric alongside semistructured interviews. Our finding demonstrates that, despite some drawbacks, ChatGPT can support teachers in assessing students" competencies with its report-generating capability. This research significantly contributes to the advancement of AI technologies aimed at empowering and augmenting the capabilities of educators in the evolving landscape of education.
