Urban regeneration projects promoted by the Special Act on the Promotion and Support of Urban Regeneration enacted in 2013 were promoted in a total of 560 locations by 2022. As the urban regeneration project has been promoted with a focus on “supply” of facilities, it has been raised as an urgent task to come up with measures for sustainable “operation.” Therefore, this study aims to conduct a basic case study to find a way to operate the space used as an existing urban regeneration site support center as a sustainable base facility after the end of the urban regeneration project in Sinjiang-dong. To this end, the following conclusions were drawn by analyzing the operational cases of the Kim Young-soo Library in Jeju, the Hope Factory in Seo-gu, Daegu, and three resident-sharing facilities in Geumha Village in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. First, it is necessary to seek ways to operate the operating entity directly by the city in the early stages and entrust it to private organizations such as residents’ communities and local cooperatives. Second, in connection with the educational program conducted in 2023, the first floor, which was previously used, is used as a cafe, makerspace, and shared space for residents, and the second floor is composed of a self-studio. In particular, self-studios can take photos and videos, so it is expected that many residents will be able to benefit if active publicity is made on the city’s website. Finally, a follow-up management plan is needed for the sustainable operation of the base facilities. In the case of Sinjiang-dong, due to the sudden end of the urban regeneration project, there was insufficient preparation for the future operation plan of the base facilities. Therefore, it is necessary to present a basic direction to meet the characteristics of the region and the needs of the residents, and to establish governance for facility operation as a management system.
