This study was conducted to investigate the effects of the application of flipped learning to modern poetry education and to find out the effects on students" ability to read and write poetry, and their interest in poetry class and perception-view on poetry. The study compared between two groups with 80 college students, one group of used traditional teaching methods and the other applied flipped learning to poetry education. As a result of the study"s findings, both groups" ability to read and write poetry improved after education, and had a positive effect on raising interest in poetry class and perception-view on poetry, but the group that applied flipped learning showed better results compared to the group that applied traditional teaching methods. These results indicate that the application of flipped learning to modern poetry education is first, students can better understand and express their feelings in the process of reading and writing poetry, second, their ability to empathize and understand other people"s emotions and experiences is improved, third, their ability to grasp the meaning of poetry and to understand the artist"s intentions is improved, and fourth, it is much more effective in developing the ability to express.
