Heat-pump can has the many kinds of heat sourse such as air, underground, river, sea, plant waste heat. Performance and efficiency of the heat pump depand on the temperature of heat soure. It means efficiency of geothermal heat pump is normally more high than air-heat-sourse in winter due to the difference of temperature. Inverter compressor of heat-pump means cooling and heating capacity are automatically controlled by Inverter frequency and speed of compressor considering heating and cooling load. Therefore, inverter system is normally better energy-efficienct solution than constant-speed compressor in part load condition.
In case of one real residential building in Korea, we have applied the new inverter and air-heat-source heat-pump instead of old constant-speed compressor and geothermal heat-pump. We checked out the actural performance and actual efficiency of old heat-pump. Then old and new one were compared through actual power comsumption in summer. We guess it is the best solution to replace old constant and geothermal with new inverter and geothermal, but we find out it is also good and meaningful solution to replace old heat-pump with new inverter and air-heat-source heat-pump.
If there is some problem with the ground heat exchanger, if the ground piping system is too old, we recommend we can apply the new inverter and air-cooled heat-pump instead of old geothermal to save energy, electric power and investment cost. As we expand on similar case, it can be expected that green gas and carbon can be reduced globally.
