Lee Kwang-soo’s new style novel focus on showing enlightenment. Kim Dong-in, Hyun Jin-gun, and Yum Sang-sub’s novel place on turnover point of enlightenment literature. They are absorbed in discovering and searching individual. They create internal form of literature which come from self-consciousness. They also bring renovation in techniques in current literate.
Hyun Hin-gun use irony to make narrative discourse and create different modern novel’s form from Kim Dong-in and Yum Sang-sub. Irony for Hyun Jin-gun is not only for making narrative discourse, but also creating meaning itself. His irony include that of conversation, condition, and narrative. In other words, modern novels reborn independently by irony technique.
Distinguishing mark of Hyun Jin-gun’s narrative irony is self-reflection. Self-reflection is normal characteristic of irony; creating and destroying. His ironic novels start and end from self conscious speaking. Irony as a novel technique get meaning by process of awakening. Self conscious speaking directly connect to this awakening. Through this awakening, he is willing to see ‘face of Chosun朝鮮’
