The Neo-Confucianism which was accepted through the Yuan Dynasty in the late Goryeo included various doctrines ranging from the Confucianism of the Yuan national school to that of the Southern Song areas. Neo-Confucianism accepted in Goryeo was converged on national school and research and education were done at there. So the scholars who worked at national school shared various doctrines of Neo-Confucianism accepted in Goryeo. us, the claim that the division of the Sadaebu of the late Goryeo had originated from the differences of the accepted Confucianism needs to be reconsidered. And the characteristics and limitations of the officialized Neo-Confucianism of the Yuan were revealed in recent studies. So I think the claim is far from the truth that the Sadaebu of the late Goryeo recognized the limitations of the ocialized Neo-Confucianism of the Yuan and attempted to accept the Neo-Confucianism of the Song.
The understanding of Neo-Confucianism was accumulated continuously in the late Goryeo and early Joseon through the process of research and education at national school and the establishment of confucian national system. As a result, the scholars of the late Goryeo and early Joseon fully understood the intrinsic contents of the Neo-Confucianism, even though it was less profound than the 16th century scholars. And on the basis of this, the theoretical deepening of the study of Neo-Confucianism had been done since the 16th century. erefore, there were an academic basis and continuity shared by the Neo-Confucianism of the late Goryeo and early Joseon and that of the 16th century.
