This study aims to provide basic data on the development of traditional Korean play programs for early childhood education teachers. As a preliminary study, the perception and use of traditional Korean play programs by early childhood education teachers were investigated. The research questions are as follows. First, what is the perception of preschool teachers about traditional Korean play? Second, how do preschool teachers use it? Third, what is their degree of understanding of traditional Korean play programs? As a result of the study, first, early childhood education teachers showed high interest in traditional play; however, they lacked experience in receiving the relevant education. Second, it was found that traditional games were not organized even once a week in most cases and that there were few play tools in early childhood education institutions. Third, there are few types of play that early childhood teachers understand. These findings suggest that teacher education to activate traditional Korean play programs in early childhood education. This study is meaningful as it provides basic data for developing a program for traditional Korean play-based education for young children and teachers.
