The plan for district unit came from in the process of integration of conventional city plan and its detailed plan. It is different from the unformed plans because it is planed consistent with the characteristics of the district designated among whole area designed, though it is designed based on the city plan. Thus. in this study, a efficient and proper measure was identified to use in future plan for district unit. For this, this study, first of all, investigated the condition and state of the operation of the plan for district unit in Gyeongnam province, and find the problems. Then, these problems played as limitations of the plan for district unit were compared with the factors used in the planning of the construction of apartment houses to find the interrelationship. For this, the application of the guidelines for the plan for district unit, as a whole, had positive effect, though it partly have some problem. In conclusion, future design of apartment houses should have substantial and practical alternatives to allow people in the city have better residential environment in quality in consideration of city-related, architectural, and social aspects. In addition, the plan for district unit should include efficient volume rate, incentive and agreement system, and so on to secure the realization.
