This article explored some characteristic aspects of modern Korean history in the context of the Cold War. In Appearance, the history of divided Korea has shown very exceptional situation during the Cold War period. Korea experienced hot war during The Cold War. Korea is still divided under the armistice status even after the collapse of the Cold War. However, the situation in Korea actually has exposed prevalent feature of the Cold War if we think the situation of the Cold War with real global perspective, not with Western centered perception. It was common during the Cold War that "long peace" in the West coexisted with endless civil wars and conflicts in the non-West where the Cold War and decolonization overlapped. This article argued that long peace in the West substantially depended on miserable conflicts in the non-West. In this context, the situation in Korea shows the typical and regular aspect of the Cold War.
