According to the regulation of Urban Planning Establishment Method, the Detailed District Control Plan was introduced in 1991 as a detailed guideline in the procedure for the establishment of city planning in China. The contents of the guideline has close similarities with its Korean analogue of the district unit plan system and plays important role in the planning practice under the influence of prevailing market system in the Chinese economy.
In this study we tried first to describe the process and meaning of the system's introduction and 42 cases of the plans already made in China were chosen in order to analyse the characteristics and substance of the system. The result of the study is further to be served as factors of comparison with Korean system.
