This study developed and PBL class model for aroma therapy practice(problematic situation, learning stages, and PBL plan) was developed based on literature review and case analysis of the class model, The class model was reviewed by two experts and evaluated by learners for 4 hours per week for 3 weeks to verify reliability and validity. For learners’ evaluation, 75 junior students attending the Department of Cosmetology in K university who took「Aroma Therapy」during the 1st semester in 2016 by applying the PBL class. Learning participation(self-learning evaluation, group member evaluation, group presentation, and demonstration team evaluation) was evaluated by calculating the average and standard deviation of major variables using the 5-point Likert scale and then descriptive statistics was performed. Based on the findings, class design components were derived, unit selection and curriculum analysis were made, and a problem draft was prepared for the problematic situation of PBL class model. After the review and verification of experts, the aroma therapy class model for the clinical field was developed. The aroma therapy class model for clinical practice suggested six learning stages which could be applied to one module. The results of applying the learning module were as follows. The average scores of self-learning evaluation and group member evaluation were 4.49 and 4.53 respectively, suggesting participants’ high satisfaction. In the group presentation and demonstration team evaluation, while managers had the highest score(4.22±0.21), customers had the lowest score(3.66±0.24). The results of the study suggested that the active learning method for actual problem solving was evaluated as more meaningful class where learners can internalize knowledge by themselves than the passive learning method.
